Harrells Christian Academy is an independent, college preparatory, coeducational, accredited day school for students in kindergarten through grade twelve. Lower School Harrells Christian Academy offers the ABEKA curriculum for grades K-5. This curriculum emphasizes the development of skills and knowledge in the following core academic subjects: communication (reading, writing, spelling, and grammar), Bible, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition, students receive weekly instruction in technology, art, music, physical education, Spanish and media skills. Middle School Middle school at Harrells Christian Academy includes grades 6, 7, and 8. Emphasis is based on organizational skills and building an educational foundation to prepare students for the rigors of their upcoming high school school experience. Core courses include language arts, social studies and science. Rounding off the rich middle school curriculum are courses in art, computer technology, biotechnology, physical education and Bible. Beyond the Basics Extracurricular experiences occur outside the classroom in a variety of student organizations, clubs, performing groups, and community service opportunities. Students do not have to look far to find something fun to do at HCA. Exploration It is more than just learning at HCA; it is about doing! Students in the fourth grade through eighth grades participate in parent-accompanied, overnight, educational field trips to place like the Outer Banks, Asheville, Charleston and other place. These tailored trips allow students to experience the world in which they live, and see first-hand the things they are studying. Upper School students have the opportunity to travel abroad during biannually planned trips. |
