Friends of the Library

Our goals:
Help promote reading and a love of books
Offer support to HCA library through the purchase of books and related materials
Provide interesting programming that will expand the knowledge of books and the literacy world for our students and the community

What we’ve done:

Historical character – Benjamin Franklin
Puppeteer – Judy Smith
Storyteller – Donna Washington

Purchases for school and library:
Ellison Die Cut machine
Three digital cameras
Digital projector
Sets of books for classrooms
Over $18,000 in books for the library

Programming within the school:
Accelerated Reader Rewards Day
Battle of the Books team
Dr. Seuss Celebration
Yearly college scholarship for HCA senior

Mordicai Gerstein (Caldecott Medal Winner)
